Attendance Policy

Regular attendance is a crucial part of academic success at Alpha G.K. Matriculation Higher Secondary School. It reflects a student’s commitment to learning, discipline, and responsibility. The school’s attendance policy is structured to promote punctuality, consistency, and academic excellence, while discouraging absenteeism and late arrivals.

School Timings

  • Students must arrive at the school before 9:30 a.m. every day.
  • School gates will close at the designated time, and latecomers will not be allowed to enter without valid reason and approval.
  • Repeated late arrivals may result in warnings or further disciplinary action.

Irregular Attendance & Prolonged Absence

Frequent absenteeism or being absent without proper intimation will lead to:

  • Issue of warning letters
  • Meeting with parents
  • Possible removal from the school roll in extreme cases
  • Students absent for more than 15 consecutive working days without valid reason may be deemed to have left the school.

Attendance During Examinations

  • Strictly compulsory to attend all internal assessments, term exams, and practicals.
  • No special retests or exams will be arranged for absentees unless sanctioned in advance by the Principal.

Parental Role in Attendance

Parents must:

  • Monitor and encourage regular attendance
  • Avoid planning vacations or social events during school days
  • Respond promptly to attendance-related notifications

Attendance Requirements

Minimum Attendance Percentage

A student must maintain a minimum of 90% attendance in each academic term to be eligible for:

  • Terminal Examinations
  • Promotions
  • School Certificates and Recognitions
Compulsory Attendance for Key Events

Attendance is mandatory on:

  • Reopening Day
  • Last Working Day
  • Exam Days
  • Special assemblies, national celebrations, and school functions

Leave of Absence

Prior Permission
  • Students must seek leave in advance by submitting a written leave letter to the Principal.
  • Parents must record the leave details in the school diary and ensure it is signed by the class teacher.
In Case of Illness or Emergency
  • A leave letter must be submitted on the day the student returns to school.
  • For extended absence (more than 3 days), a medical certificate is mandatory.
No Partial Attendance
  • Students are not permitted to leave the school campus during school hours without prior permission from the Principal and valid reasons.
